Domain name registration
If you looking to set up a web presence, whether for personal
or business use, then you will need to have a domain name under
which to publish your website, to obtain this all you have to
do is register your desired domain name.
The process of domain name registration is simple, firstly
you will need to decide upon a domain name, this may be your
company name, your name, a name related to the area the website
relates to or whatever you desire it to be (there are some
restrictions - it must be alphanumeric and can contain hyphens
but not at the beginning or end of the name, and in general
it must not exceed 63 characters in length).
Once you have decided upon the domain name you want, you
will need to check that the domain name is still available
for registration (you can do this using the above domain search
box). When you do the domain name registration check you will
be presented with a list of your chosen domain name with an
array of the different extensions (i.e. .uk.com, .gb.com etc)
and whether the domain is available.
If it has not already been taken then your chosen domain
name will be available for registration, if not you may have
to go with an extension that is your second choice, or rethink
the name that you are looking for. When you do find an available
domain name that you want, then you simply follow the registration
process, enter the required personal/business details and
after a short while you will be the owner of a domain name,
ready to use to gain the web presence that you desire.
